Carya Illinoinensis, or more commonly know as Pecan, is a tree with yellow-green foliage and green flowers of the genus Carya. It has a slow growth rate and a height of 140 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during early spring and is intolerant of shade. Carya Illinoinensis or Pecan's floral region is North America US Lower 48, specifically in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
