Festuca Occidentalis, or more commonly know as Western Fescue, is a graminoid with dark green foliage and yellow flowers of the genus Festuca. It has a moderate growth rate and a height of 3 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during spring, is tolerant of shade and is routinely available commercially. Festuca Occidentalis or Western Fescue's floral region is North America US Lower 48 and Alaska, specifically in the states of California, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
