Virginia Water Horehound (Lycopus virginicus)
Lycopus Virginicus, or more commonly know as Virginia Water Horehound, is a forb/herb (a forb/herb is a non-woody plant that is not a grass) with dark green foliage and white flowers of the genus Lycopus. It has a moderate growth rate and a height of 4 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during summer and is tolerant of shade. Lycopus Virginicus or Virginia Water Horehound's floral region is North America US Lower 48, specifically in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont and Wisconsin.
