Pinus Echinata, or more commonly know as Shortleaf Pine, is a tree with green foliage and yellow flowers of the genus Pinus. It has a rapid growth rate and a height of 100 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during mid spring and is intolerant of shade. Pinus Echinata or Shortleaf Pine's floral region is North America US Lower 48, specifically in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
