Avena Sativa, or more commonly know as Common Oat, is a graminoid with green foliage and yellow flowers of the genus Avena. It has a rapid growth rate and a height of 2 feet at maturity. Its duration is annual which means it grows for one season only. It's active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during late spring and is intolerant of shade.
