Empetrum Nigrum, or more commonly know as Black Crowberry, is a subshrub shrub with green foliage and purple flowers of the genus Empetrum. It has a slow growth rate and a height of 1 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is summer and fall, blooms during mid summer and is intolerant of shade. Empetrum Nigrum or Black Crowberry's floral region is North America US Lower 48 and Alaska, specifically in the states of Alaska, California, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Vermont and Washington.
