Opuntia Ficus-Indica, or more commonly know as Barbary Fig, is a tree shrub with green foliage and red flowers of the genus Opuntia. It has a slow growth rate and a height of 10 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is summer, blooms during mid summer and is intolerant of shade. Opuntia Ficus-Indica or Barbary Fig's floral region is North America US Lower 48, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, specifically in the states of Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina, New Mexico and Texas.
