Carex Nigra, or more commonly know as Smooth Black Sedge, is a graminoid of the genus Carex. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. Carex Nigra or Smooth Black Sedge's floral region is North America US Lower 48, specifically in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin.
