Pyracantha Coccinea, or more commonly know as Scarlet Firethorn, is a shrub with green foliage and white flowers of the genus Pyracantha. It has a rapid growth rate and a height of 8 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It's active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during late spring and is intolerant of shade. Pyracantha Coccinea or Scarlet Firethorn's floral region is North America US Lower 48, specifically in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
