Elephant Grass (Pennisetum Purpureum)
Pennisetum Purpureum, or more commonly know as Elephant Grass, is a graminoid with green foliage and yellow flowers of the genus Pennisetum. It has a rapid growth rate and a height of 10 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It’s active growth period is summer and fall, blooms during mid summer and is intolerant of shade. Pennisetum Purpureum or Elephant Grass‘s floral region is North America US Lower 48, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and The Virgin Islands, specifically in the states of California, Florida, Hawaii and Texas.
